Biography
CORii, whose real name is Courtney Halpin MacBride, is a Belmont Music graduate from Moorestown, New Jersey. He has released six singles under the name CORii and has appeared on the NBC show twice. He was featured in an episode of Songland in April 2020, where he pitched a song called “What If” to Louis Fonsi. Although the song received positive feedback, it was not chosen by Fonsi because it required significant changes to fit his musical style.
After graduating from Berklee with a degree in music therapy, CORii worked at a duet piano bar called Howl at the Moon for two and a half years. She saved money to pursue a music career in Los Angeles but eventually moved back to New Jersey when her husband, a doctor, accepted an offer of residency on the East Coast. Despite the move, CORii continued to release music, including singles like “Live 2wice” and “My Own Hero.”
