In 2017, filming of “Bachelor in Paradise” was suspended when Warner Bros. launched an internal investigation into sexual encounters between contestants DeMario Jackson and Corinne Olympios.

At the time of the incident, Olympios released a statement, which read, “I am a victim and have spent the last week trying to understand what happened on June 4. Although I have little memory of that night, something bad obviously took over the place, which I understand is because production on the show has now been suspended and the producer on the show has filed a complaint against the production.”

Olympios received a lot of backlash when he referred to himself as a “victim” as “Bachelor in Paradise” found “no allegations of wrongdoing” in his investigation and went ahead with production. She later released a follow-up statement, explaining, “At that point, I saw myself as a victim of something this serious happening to you and asking the media to paint you in a certain way that you know you’re not and experienced. all these people make their judgments and comments and they don’t know what happened or happened.”

He continued, “That’s what I was a victim of. I never meant that I was a victim of DeMario. I firmly believe he had no bad intentions at all. It was all good. Unfortunately no one really knew how drunk I was at the time.”

As the sexual assault incident continues, DeMarioi Jackson also released a statement when he spoke to “Bachelor” franchise host Chris Harrison, saying, “It’s hard because I know who I am. I know I’m not the monster that they try to portray on TV.

He continued, “As Michelle Obama said, ‘When they go down, you go up high.’ It’s hard to get high. I had to do it because I coach and mentor kids and I can’t tell them to be something I’m not. That’s what keeps me going – and amazing family, friends, teachers at school, people at the gym … it’s crazy to see the response from them. My cast mates – Alexis, Raven, I think I FaceTimed Taylor every day. There is so much love. I am very humbled.”
