Corrupt & Abusive Utah Cop Involved In Gabby Petito Case Still On Active Duty!

The corrupt and reportedly abusive Moab City, Utah police involved in Gabby Petito and Brian Laundrie’s traffic stop days before her death are still on the job.

Earlier this year, Gabby’s parents filed a $50 million wrongful death lawsuit against Moab City PD Eric Pratt and Daniel Robbins.

You’ll recall that Gabby and Laundrie were stopped by Moab police officers in August 2021, the same month she was believed to have been killed, after an anonymous caller alerted them to a domestic violence situation.

Callers told dispatchers they saw a man [Laundrie] slap a girl [Gabby].

Police body camera footage shows a distressed Gabby telling how her fiance grabbed her face and scratched her and pushed her away.

Different body cameras show Laundrie smiling, laughing and accusing Gabby of being emotional and hysterical.

After Gabby’s murder, Pratt was promoted to detective AND he reportedly worked as a security officer at the Gunnison State Prison on weekends.

In addition to his promotion and weekend duties, Pratt is believed to be the school resource officer at all three district schools: Helen M. Knight Elementary School, Margaret L. Hopkin Middle School and Grand County High School.

A source disclosed to US Sun, “Pratt is still active in the Moab PD, he currently works as a detective. He also works as security at the Gunnison State Prison on weekends.”

Gabby’s family is “disappointed” the corrupt police are still working

City of Moab Police Department

Moab City PD has yet to respond to the wrongful death lawsuit filed by Joseph Petito and Nichole Schmidt.

Gabby’s parents are represented by Brian Stewart of the Salt Lake City law firm Parker & McConkie. They were reportedly “disappointed” by this worrying news.

He said in an exclusive statement, “As described in the complaint filed, we believe the City of Moab Police Department knew or should have known that Officer Pratt had a history of widespread professional and sexual misconduct, including sexual harassment and intimate partner violence, that was evident. unfit and unsafe to be a police officer. The Petito family is upset that Moab City does not seem to be taking the allegations against Officer Pratt seriously. Gabby deserves better and the people of Moab deserve better now.”

Stewart believes Officer Pratt “was fundamentally biased and probably ignored Gabby.”

Gabby’s family is calling for an investigation into the police department as to why the officer was allowed to remain on the force.

“We believe that Gabby would be alive today if he had done his job to enforce the law as it was written and protect Gabby that day,” he said.

McConkie explained the purpose of the lawsuit in a statement.

“The epidemic of domestic violence is a silent killer, the signs and symptoms of which are often overlooked by those unfamiliar with interpersonal violence. … To combat domestic violence, each of us needs to do our part to call out abusers and know how to identify the systemic problems that enable abuse, even if it’s hard to do,” he said.
