Couple allegedly kidnapped 18-year-old, forced her to eat cat feces: officials

An Australian couple have been denied bail on kidnapping charges, where they are accused of abusing their 18-year-old victim and forcing her to eat cat faeces.

Mataja Pagett, 18, from Sydney’s west, and Jayden Williamson, 21, from Wollongong, face charges of taking and detaining a victim with intent, assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company, and stalking in connection with the alleged kidnapping incident.

A third co-accused, Christopher Diliapis, 19 years old from Dapto, has also been charged but has been granted bail.

The alleged incident took place on August 30, where Pagett, Williamson, and Diliapis allegedly held the victim at a unit in North Wollongong between 4pm and 8.30pm

The victim was allegedly forced to eat cat feces as part of the ordeal.

The victim was known to at least one of the alleged kidnappers and was initially approached and physically assaulted at Dapto railway station before being taken to a nearby property where he was tied up, assaulted and detained.

The victim then made a statement at the hospital, claiming that he had been forcibly tied up in a residence, and that the alleged offense seemed premeditated.

Police prosecutors opposed bail for Pagett and Williamson citing safety concerns for the alleged victims.

“The victim has experienced belittling and disgusting behavior, what was done to him is unspeakable and should not have happened,” he said.

Magistrate Stephen Corry strongly opposed bail for Pagett and Williamson, citing concerns for the safety of the alleged victims.

“Bail is denied, this is a strong prosecution case involving continuous assault and arrest of the victim with cable ties,” he said.

Magistrate Corry also said the alleged offenses appeared “premeditated” given what was used to “torture and restrain the victim.”

Pagett’s lawyer said his young age should be taken into account.

“These are young people, who recently entered the jurisdiction of the adult court after turning 18 just a few weeks ago,” the lawyer said via The Daily Telegraph.

The magistrate also stated that the alleged offenses appeared to be planned based on the evidence available in the unit.

Williamson and Pagett will remain in custody, with their case due back in Wollongong Local Court on November 1.
