Critics slam Hulk Hogan and Mike Tyson for peddling illicit, kid-friendly e-cigs: ‘It’s not okay’

Former wrestling legend Hulk Hogan and former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson peddle nicotine-flavored vapes that are popular among teenagers, although the Food and Drug Administration recently took steps to crack down on the sale of the banned product.

Over the past year, Tyson and Hogan have been pushing disposable nicotine vapes wrapped in loud and colorful packaging and designs through their brands Tyson 2.0 and Immortal by Hulk Hogan.

The device is sold in fruit and dessert flavors such as apple gummi, strawberry shortcake and cotton candy.

Critics blame muscleheads for pushing products aimed at younger vapers.

“For a so-called celebrity to promote a product that is dangerous for children is a sad day,” Jim Carroll, the White House drug czar under former President Donald Trump, told The Post.

“The flavor is appealing to kids on this product,” said Meredith Berkman, co-founder of the e-cigarette advocacy group Parents Against Vaping, adding that it was “disappointing” to see Hogan and Tyson use their “likenesses to market flavored poison.”

Many experts also criticized the celebrity-branded efforts because the products are illegal to sell and distribute in the United States.

“There’s a perception that it must be ok because it’s everywhere,” Edgar Domenech, a former New York City Sheriff under former Mayor Mike Bloomberg, said of flavored vaping. “Well, it’s okay. They are illegal. They are targeting our children.”

In 2022, 2.5 million youth reported using e-cigarettes, including about 14% of all middle school students and 3% of high school students, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Nearly 85% percent of all middle and high school students say they use non-tobacco flavored vapes.

To date, the FDA has only approved the sale of 23 vaping products, all of which are tobacco-flavored and aimed at adults, according to agency spokesman Jim McKinney.

In recent months, the FDA has sought to stem the flow of vapes into the United States, most of which are made in Shenzhen, China.

In May, the agency banned imports of the popular Elf Bar and Esco Bar, among other devices, and sent warning letters to nearly 200 retailers selling the products without authorization. It also issued a market denial order for companies that manufacture nearly 6,500 vaping products.

Representatives for Tyson and Hogan, as well as their brands, did not respond to requests for comment.
