The actress revealed that the hunger strike was to help draw people’s attention back to “the killing in Gaza.” In chat with The Sunday TimesNixon noted that many people may be distracted by the holidays and lose interest in the Middle East crisis.
“You know we just had Thanksgiving. It’s a big holiday, and we have a lot more holidays coming up in December. So, the week after Thanksgiving is a time for people to be distracted and unfocused,” Nixon said. “And there is so much momentum building. Building to stop the bombing, to stop the killing in Gaza. All over this country and in many countries around the world.”
He continued, “…And we want to make sure people don’t lose sight of this. In this week of disruption.”

The actress’ hunger strike will last a few days before she returns to New York for work commitments.
