“D1CE” Is Said To Have Dissolved After Being Active For Almost Four Years

The five-member K-pop boy group D1CE officially broke up on January 20, 2023, after being active for most of their career. The trio, formed by D1CE Entertainment, made their debut on August 19, 2019, with their EP, Wake Up: Roll the World. However, when their contract with the agency expired, all five members left the firm, and the group split at the same time. D1CE’s official Twitter account announced the band’s disbandment, tweeting:

“D1CE Exclusive Contract Expiration Information: Please see the fan cafe message for more information.”

The revelation shocked their unsuspecting fans. Since all the members, except for the youngest, Jin-young, are still doing their required military duty, the disbandment came as a surprise to many fans. D1CE is known for his extensive discography. DON1Ys (D1CE fans) are worried about the real cause of their disbandment, although their development is impressive. A Twitter user wrote on the platform:

“NOT S1CE, PLEASE, NO”

Fans are worried by the unexpected disbandment of K-pop boy group D1CE.

Although the K-pop boy group has been active for over four years, most fans know them from their appearances on reality survival TV series Produce 101, Boys24, and MIXNINE. However, when the news of their unexpected disbandment reached their followers, they expressed their concern over the situation. At the same time, fans raised concerns about their inability to say goodbye to the members as the majority of them are now in the military.

However, other fans have shifted the blame to their agency, D1CE Entertainment. Despite the boy group’s hard work and effort in creating a niche for themselves in the K-pop market, DON1Y thinks that their business is not giving them credit. From promotions to external scheduling, fans believe that K-pop trios deserve more from their agencies, considering that their agencies handle most of their representation. At that point, fans naturally expected that the members would reappear under a different banner, as most of the fan base loved and respected their music.

The latest official comeback of the five-member K-pop boy group was DRAW YOU: REMEMBER ME in 2020, which was greatly appreciated by fans. However, apart from a few songs like Good Day and OSTs like Mad For Each Other, the group hasn’t been very busy since their return. Around 2020-21, members began to gradually sign up for the required military service, reducing their engagement with fans and distributing their work even more.

D1CEFans also claim that this developed as a result of their events not being properly scheduled. Since they were a newly formed group, there was a short professional break as the group found their footing in the music business. Furthermore, the comebacks were staged far apart from each other, which might have been dangerous for the rookie group. As more individuals expressed their concerns about the sudden disbandment of the boy group with so much promise, Twitter was filled with fans’ responses, thoughts and fears, making it a hot topic. Although the news was mostly sad, supporters wished the members well in their future endeavors and pledged to support them no matter what path they choose.
