Daisy Ridley Talks ‘Plans’ For Rey After Latest ‘Star Wars’ Movie

Actress Daisy Ridley admits that she feels like a “different person” than those who took part in the Star Wars sequel trilogy.

Ridley was an unknown when he appeared in 2015’s “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” He reprized his role in 2017’s “The Last Jedi” and 2019’s “The Rise of Skywalker,” which concluded the nine-episode Skywalker Saga.

Fans have been anxious to find out how Rey’s story continues, and although Ridley thinks the film gives Rey a “beautiful” ending, there’s a chance her story will continue.

When asked by The Hollywood Reporter if it would take thirty years to see Rey on screen again, Ridley replied, “Honestly, I don’t know. I feel like Rey’s story ended in a beautiful way with the last movie.”

“It’s been three crazy years since the film was released. I feel like a different person,” he continued. “We’ve all been through a lot of changes in the last three years, with a lot of crazy things happening.”

“So I really don’t know if there is a plan. I don’t know,” he admitted. “But in the end, I like my experience, I like what I got to do and I like the people I get to work with. So, for that to happen again, even once, would be amazing. Because the dream is to actually be around good people who make you feel good and feel heard while you’re doing good work.

During his third film as the character, Ridley said that he felt “very present” during filming. “On the first two, I was like, ‘Oh my God, they’ve picked the wrong person. Oh my God, I’m going to mess it up. Oh my God, oh my God.’ And then on the third one, I had a little time to pause,” he said.

“I still have moments where I’m like, ‘Oh my God, am I terrible?’ But I also know that I work very hard and I’m in a very safe environment with a lot of people I already know,” he continued. “I feel very comfortable, and I really try to show up every day.”

“And it was my favorite filming experience for that reason because I really took everything in, and none of the joy and excitement was lost,” he added. “So I think I can breathe a little easier. I mean, I love them all, but it was great to actually be in my body for that last shooting experience.”

One experience he remembers was experiencing rain for the first time in “The Last Jedi.” Ridley recalls, “In terms of the rain, I remember that because I was given an amazing picture as my wrap gift.” Another image that resonates with Rey is the image of her seeing green foliage for the first time in “The Force Awakens.”

“And with green, everything is so beautiful,” Ridley said. “It was a surreal experience, and everything was amazing. So green is another thing to add. I think I had many, many discoveries as the character.”

Late last month, while debuting his new film “Sometimes I Think About Dying” at the Sundance film festival, Ridley revealed that he was “looking for a job” and hinted that he was ready to return to a galaxy far, far away.

A reporter with IMDb asked him, “Do you think you’ll revisit the franchise at some point?” Daisy replied, “I mean, I… I’m open to phone calls. I… I’m looking for a job.”

This isn’t the only time Ridley has teased that he might be open to returning to the franchise. In March 2022, he walked the BAFTA red carpet when he answered another question about his future in the franchise.

“You told me. Do you miss being Rey?” a reporter asked. “Are you going back to ‘Star Wars’?”

“I’ll always be Rey,” Ridley replied before adding, “Soundbite!”
