Daniel Craig’s fictional homage has followed him into reality!

As a Hollywood veteran, the actor has starred in various films, TV, and Broadway shows. However, he remains best known for his extraordinary portrayal of the fictional spy James Bond.

While the 54-year-old has received a lot of praise for this role, the Cheshire native’s most prestigious award recently landed in his lap. Guess who got the honor first? Mr. 007 did.

As Craig ends his reign as one of the most beloved Bond actors, the father of two may believe his connection to the character has been severed. However, the couple’s story lives on.

Thanks to the British Royal Family, the world will not forget ‘agent 007’ in the future. On Tuesday, October 18, Empire honored the English actor by awarding him the same title as his fictional character in the film.

They shared the exciting news on their official website Twitter page, along with a picture of an English actor receiving The Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George. In the image, the late king’s daughter, Princess Anne, paid tribute to the “Spectre” star, who received it with a humble smile.

For the event, which was held at Windsor Castle, the 54-year-old copied his iconic character’s wardrobe in formal wear. The Broadway star looked dapper in a navy blue suit while the Princess Royal wore a traditional black jacket, knee-length skirt, stockings and black shoes.

As PEOPLE reports, the late Queen Elizabeth II gave the Britannia Award winner the same honor as her fictional spy before her heartbreaking death. The English actor made the king’s annual New Year’s honors list for his “outstanding contribution to film and theatre.”

Although he didn’t get to receive the title from the Queen, the “Knives Out” star can always reminisce about his time starring alongside her. For the 2012 Olympics in London, Craig joined forces with the deceased for the opening ceremony.

The couple performed in a pre-recorded clip, where the performers were called to Buckingham Palace for a special mission. The Cheshire native had to accompany the monarch to the Olympic venue, which the pair entered by helicopter.

Naturally, the action scenes are performed by stunt doubles. Surprisingly, director Danny Boyle didn’t have to beg for the Queen’s participation. Angela Kelly, his aide, revealed in her 2019 book “The Other Side of the Coin,” that the longest-serving ruler “was very entertained by the idea and agreed immediately.”

It seems the late royal also has a special place in his heart for the Bond actor. The “Glass Onion” star made his debut as ‘agent 007’ in 2006 before ending the franchise in 2021’s “No Time To Die.”

At the same time as his last Bond appearance, the 54-year-old was named an honorary officer of the United Kingdom’s Royal Navy. Marking the first time, he achieved the same title as his character, who served as a Royal Navy commander in the series.

BAFTA Nominee Almost Quits Bond Franchise After Repeat Injuries

Earlier this year, The Blast reported that Craig was planning to leave the Bond series. His departure comes close to ending his 14-year reign as the longest-serving actor to play the fictional character.

After years of kicking ass and destroying criminal organizations, the 54-year-old announced his intention to step down during the publication of “Spectre.” The English actor admits that the role has affected his health.

The Hollywood veteran stated that he doesn’t mind the recovery process; however, being stuck in a cycle of injury and recovery bothered him. Prioritizing health, the father of two vowed not to return.

However, the producers did not want to lose their favorite star and worked tirelessly to convince Craig to return for the final film. The performer eventually relented and agreed to let the stuntman do all the dangerous stunts in “No Time To Die.”
