Daughter accused of giving 72-year-old mother with dementia gun to commit suicide: ‘Sucks being a 24-7 caregiver’

Police have accused an Oklahoma woman of killing her mother, after she gave a gun to the 72-year-old woman in her care with dementia, saying it was “shameful to be a 24-7 caregiver.”

Jaydee Watts, 44, was arrested by Oklahoma City police following an investigation into the suicide death of her elderly mother Lynda Watts on September 10.

Police say Lynda Watts has dementia and her daughter is her primary caregiver.

During their investigation, homicide detectives found that the younger Watts “intentionally provided the victim with a firearm which prompted the victim to kill himself,” the Oklahoma City Police Department said in a news alert issued Tuesday afternoon.

Police have also obtained Ring camera video from inside the home that allegedly shows Jaydee verbally berating her mother, calling her a child and threatening her by saying “take your pills or choke and die,” according to KOCO News.

Jaydee Watts left her mother’s bedroom and returned with a gun, demonstrating how to remove the gun from a holster and telling the 72-year-old man “Do what you want,” before leaving the room again and returning with a drill saying she was going to lock her mother inside bedroom.
