The daughter of a homeless Florida woman whose lifeless body was found in the jaws of a gator has been filled with “unbearable pain” since she learned of her mother’s tragic death.
Breauna Dorris said she hopes her mother, Sabrina Peckham, “is no longer struggling or sick” after authorities identified her as the body a nearly 14-foot-long alligator carried in a canal along a residential street in Largo Friday.
“To my mom: I love you more than I can ever express, I miss you more than you will ever know and I pray that you look down on me and your grandchildren,” Dorris wrote in a heartwarming Facebook post over the weekend.
“Please protect us. I’m sorry this happened to you. I pray that you are at peace and that you no longer struggle or get hurt.”
Dorris, 23, poignantly said Peckham, 41, was part of a homeless population living in nearby woodland.
He said his mother may have been walking to or from her campsite near the creek at night when “the crocodile attacked from the water.”

He also vehemently denied rumors posted in the news channel’s comments section that he “mocked” the large reptile that led to his death.
“The past 24 hours have been filled with sadness and grief and unbearable pain for our family,” Dorris said.
A bystander on his way to a job interview spotted Peckham’s body as a doorman dragged it away and alerted authorities.
Pinellas County sheriff’s deputies pulled the animals and victims from the canal.

Although officials said the gator was “humanely killed,” a neighbor who witnessed the killing said responders shot it multiple times.
The cause of death of the mother and grandmother has not been revealed. It is not clear whether the crocodile killed him or he was already dead when it grabbed his body.
Peckham was previously arrested by county deputies on July 14 for trespassing on county wetlands about a half-mile from where he was found dead, court records show.
After he pleaded no contest to the charge, he was released from prison on September 8.

It was not known where he had been for two weeks before Friday’s gruesome discovery.
“No matter how you say it, nobody deserves to die like this,” Peckman’s grieving daughter said.
Dorris is raising funds to pay for her mother’s cremation and funeral.
He started a GoFundMe page that had raised nearly $6,000 as of Sunday night.

“Sabrina was loved by many and we look forward to many more years with her,” the fundraising page said. “Our family is torn apart trying to cope with this kind of loss. Sabrina was only 41 years old and homeless at that time had no funeral or death to deal with.”
