Besides confirming that this is his last appearance as Drax in the films, Bautista said that he is also relieved that this time in his life is over. The actor sat together GQ and spilling the beans about moving on to other projects.
Bautista insists he is grateful for the achievement and admits that the film series put him on the map in acting but he is willing to admit that he is glad he no longer has to endure all the obstacles to prepare to play the character.
Dave Bautista Hates Makeup

One of the most annoying things about the role for the former WWE wrestler was getting the makeup chair. “It’s not all pleasant,” he claimed. “It’s difficult to play that role. The make-up process has defeated me.”
Bautista also insisted that he is transitioning to a more serious role and wants to put things like this behind him. He recently appeared in glass onion, and he is ready to appear Dune: Part II and Tap Cabin this year. “I don’t know if I want Drax to be my legacy,” Bautista said boldly.
The actor then elaborated on the performance of the popular foreign hero. “It was a silly show, and I wanted to do something more dramatic.” For him, it’s more about the craft of acting than the ringgit money so he’s willing to leave a multi-billion dollar franchise.
Dave Bautista Wants ‘Respect’ From ‘His Peers’

As we mentioned, Bautista is a true actor, he does it for the love of the craft and explains it explicitly in GQ interview. “Honestly, I could give an af**k,” he said of the money he made playing Drax.
“I don’t live a very glamorous life. I live here in Tampa. I don’t care about the limelight, I don’t care about the fame.” Bautista continued, “I just want to be a better actor. I want respect from my peers.”
Bautista explained that he loves Marvel and everything they do for him. But in an interview in 2021, he sang a different tune. He told Collider that Marvel “dropped the ball” with Drax by not focusing on his lore, Drax the Destroyer.
“That’s not a dig at Marvel. They have their schedule, I know what they focus on, that’s what they have [it] set,” he said. “But man, I think they really missed the ball against Drax. He has such a great background.”

His career seems to be on the rise and Bautista is happy about it. He hopes that in time, a director like Denis Villeneuve he is working on Dune: Part II will see him as a competitive actor.
“If I can be number one [on the callsheet] with Denis, I will do it for free,” he insisted. He credits the director for making him a better actor. “I think that’s how I find out how good I am,” he said.
He went on to say Villeneuve “brought out the best in me. He saw me in a different light, saw the performer I wanted to be. That’s probably how I solved the puzzle.” As for M. Night Shyamalan Tap CabinBautista is very excited about this one.
“It’s by far the most I’ve ever said in a movie,” he said of the movie, which opened in theaters on February 3. He really went out of his way to get the perfect picture and the best performance he could get out of Bautista
