“After much consideration of what the Raiders need moving forward, I have decided to part ways with Josh and Dave.” I would like to thank them both for their efforts and wish them and their families the best.”
The decision came after the Raiders’ 26-14 loss to Detroit on “Monday Night Football,” their second straight loss, dropping their record to 3-5. Davis appointed McDaniels and Ziegler in January 2022, both joining the Patriots organization. McDaniels is in his second season as New England’s offensive coordinator, and Ziegler is the team’s director of player personnel.
To fill the void, the Raiders have named line coach Antonio Pierce as interim head coach. They also announced that Champ Kelly, the current assistant general manager, will serve as interim GM. Additionally, the Raiders have stated that they intend to conduct an extensive search for a permanent head coach and new general manager after the 2023 season.
