Career
After graduating from university, Baddiel worked as a professional stand-up comedian in London, as well as writing for entertainers such as Rory Bremner and television shows such as Spitting Image. His first appearance on television was in an episode of the showbiz comedy Filthy, Rich, and Catflap. In 1988, she met Rob Newman, with whom she began a literary relationship. After that, they teamed up with another comic team, Steve Punt and Hugh Dennis, to write and act in The Mary Whitehouse Experience on BBC Radio 1, where the program ran for four seasons and specials. This popularity led to the show being moved to BBC2, where it ran for two seasons before being canceled by both couples. Baddiel also co-hosted the Channel 4 show A Stab in the Dark at the time.
