However, David has left a void in Georgia basketball that will be difficult to replace. He was the heart and soul of his team, winning trophy after championship while also establishing a standard of discipline and lifestyle.

His brother Cal announced X’s death with an emotional message reflecting on his contributions to family and basketball. “My big brother, David Boyd, went to be with God today. He was an excellent mentor to many. The coaching world has lost a legend today! I appreciate all our chats over the years. “I miss my brother so much!”
Cal, a two-time state championship-winning coach, had a unique relationship with the late David. Sibling coaching pairs are unusual as they come in basketball. Needless to say, having a big brother like David to learn from Cal helped a lot in his ambitions. To represent his winning attitude and killer instinct, current Georgia State coach Jonas Hayes gave a nice statement.
“He is an amazing coach and disciplinarian. “And he is the epitome of a winner.
Furthermore, Jermaine Sellers, a former Boyd player and current Kell High School head coach, revealed David’s personality traits.
“He discussed work ethics, responsibility, moral integrity, and how to respect others. Throughout my coaching career, he always followed me, gave me advice, and encouraged me.”
