A “delirious and aggressive” driver was arrested Thursday morning after crashing his car into a security barrier outside the Dewan Rakyat office building, authorities said.
According to Capitol Police, 28-year-old Kevin Simon was charged with reckless driving, resisting arrest, and two counts of leaving after crashing into a barricade outside the Longworth Office Building shortly before 8 a.m.

Investigators say Simon suddenly exited Interstate 395 North and struck two other cars in DC’s Capitol Hill neighborhood before smashing through a barrier, sustaining minor injuries in the process.
Capitol Police said there was no indication the crash was intentional or related to terrorism.
Simon was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.

The incident occurred during Rep. George Santos (R-NY) is allegedly holding a press conference before the debate and vote on his potential removal from Congress.
The crash also came 23 days after a registered sex offender from Georgia was arrested while walking with a gun near three Senate office buildings across from the Capitol.
