Top Democratic donors are doubling down on President Biden’s re-election — despite a Wall Street Journal poll that says 80% of Americans believe he’s too old, On The Money has learned.
Biden, who is scheduled to come to New York City for the UN General Assembly the week of September 18, is also scheduled to attend several fundraisers during his visit. That includes a “Broadway for Biden” event where Lin-Manuel Miranda, Sara Bareilles and Josh Groban are set to perform.
The September 18 event will be co-hosted by Lin-Manuel Miranda’s father — political operative Luis Miranda Jr. as well as Eric Mindich, founder of Everblue Management; Orin Kramer, founder of Boston Provident; and Fred Hochberg, former president of the Export-Import Bank.
On September 20, Biden will attend an event organized by “Lawyers for Biden.” He was then scheduled to attend a small private reception hosted by Amy Goldman-Fowler, a billionaire heiress who asked for $50,000 per attendee and $100,000 per couple.

“The enthusiasm among donors is much greater than people realise,” a source told On The Money.

While names like Gavin Newsom and Gretchen Whitmer have been floated, all major donors are laser-focused on raising money for Biden. Insiders say the numbers — which show Biden outscoring Trump two to one — speak for themselves.
Last quarter Biden raised $72 million compared to Trump’s $35 million.
Although Trump has been able to raise millions from his base following his arrest, Trump’s legal woes may have galvanized Democrats more than MAGA donors.
“The thought of Trump being president again is enough to make any Democratic donor open their checkbook,” Charles Myers, a longtime Democratic donor, told On The Money.
Multiple sources also say they believe Biden’s age is irrelevant and they believe he is as sharp as ever.
“Asking about age is the wrong question… the real question is who can win,” another source added.
