A desperate mother who last saw her 19-year-old daughter taken away by Hamas terrorists in a viral video two months ago says every moment her daughter is held hostage “is an eternity in hell.”
“You have seen the video of my daughter Naama Levy. Everyone has,” Ayelet Levy Sachar wrote in a heartbreaking account published Friday in The Free Press.
“He was seriously injured. He was afraid. And I, his mother, was helpless in these moments of horror,” said Sachar.
Levy, one of 17 young women still held hostage by Hamas, was living in Kibbutz Nahal Oz on October 7, when the group launched an unprecedented surprise attack on Israel, killing about 1,200 people and capturing about about 250 prisoners.
Around 7am that morning Sachar said he received a final, haunting message from his daughter: “We’re in the safe room. I have never heard of anything like this.”
The teenager was filmed by Hamas being dragged out of the back of a jeep at gunpoint, barefoot with hands tied in bloody clothes, and pushed into the vehicle.

A video of her daughter being molested emerged the next day – but the woman in the clip looked almost unrecognizable in her bloodied and beaten state, Sachar wrote. Levy’s father then called and confirmed that it was his daughter.
The teenager has dreams of a future career in diplomacy, and works as a member of the “Hands of Peace” delegation, which promotes peace between Israeli, Palestinian and US youth, his mother said.
“But now, one video, in no way depicting the life he lived until October 7, is how the world knows him,” he said.

Since his daughter was taken hostage, Sachar said “every minute is an eternity in hell,” as he watched news coverage of the living conditions of Hamas prisoners, including allegations of rape and violence against women.
“The same monster who committed the crime is holding my daughter hostage,” Sachar wrote.
Dozens of Israeli hostages and prisoners were exchanged during a short-lived ceasefire late last month, but Levy was not one of them.
The distraught mother pointed out that on Monday, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that Hamas refused to release its female prisoners because “they don’t want the women to be able to talk about what happened to them while in custody. “
“Everyone knows what he means,” Sachar wrote.
