Dipankar De was born on Wednesday, 5 July 1944 (age 79 years; in 2023) in Jamshedpur, Bihar Province (now Jharkhand), British India. He grew up in Kolkata and his zodiac sign is Cancer. He attended school from St. Xaviers in Kolkata. He holds Honors in Economics and Masters in Arts from Presidency University, Kolkata.

Dipankar’s father was an engineer, who worked in Jamshedpur. His mother used to work in England, she returned to India when Dipankar was 10 years old and died after 8 years. Career
Dipankar De made his debut with the Bengali film “Seemabaddha” (1971).
He made several popular Bengali films such as Subarna Golak (1981), Amar Kantak (1986), Shakha Proshakha (1990), Titli (2002), Utsab (2000), Mayer Anchal (2003), Sangram (2005), Hemlock Society (2012 ), Kailashe Kelenkari (2007), Challenge 2 (2014), Agantuker Pore (2015), Har Har Byomkesh (2015), Dotara (2018), and Ahaa Re (2019). He made his Bollywood debut with the film Youngistaan (2014).
He made his Television debut with the Bengali TV show “Ganer Oparey” (2010-2011) as ‘Chandrasekhar Deb.’
He acted in popular TV shows such as Jarowar Jhumko (2016-2017), Bhojo Gobindo (2017–2018), and Kanak Kakon (2019–Present). He made his Hindi Television debut with the Star Bharat film “Jai Kanhaiya Lal Ki” (2018) as ‘Janki Nath Chaudhary.’
