Sharna Burgess is dealing with real feelings of hurt, confusion and disappointment after finding out she wasn’t cast for the 32nd season of “Dancing With The Stars.”
Burgess, who made her DWTS debut as a pro dancer on season 16 in 2013 and appeared in a total of 14 seasons, was crowned the winner of the reality show’s 2018 season with her partner, Bobby Bones.
Following her accomplishments on the show, it’s only natural for the pro dancer to expect to make the cut this coming season. However, he learned about his non-invitation and spoke openly about his regret at not being invited to compete.

The professional dancer, candid about her feelings, discussed the unpleasant news on the first episode of her new iHeartRadio podcast, “Old-Ish.”
She shared a clip from the podcast on her Instagram, where she and her other co-hosts, boyfriend Brian Austin Green and Randy Spelling discussed the topic. Addressing the issue, Burgess claimed that when she started season 31 when she had a baby, she expected to be invited back this year but was not.
Sharna Burgess said, “Last season I was supposed to come back but Zane was only eight weeks old. It felt like I had to sit as a mom with Zane.” He added, “It’s always, ‘I want to come back next year,’ and ‘Of course, we love you, we’ll always have you.”‘
However, the “DWTS” alum revealed that he found out he wasn’t invited back when all the experts started getting calls to come back — and he didn’t.
In his words, “Because it was so surprising because I didn’t expect it, it was hard. It’s not the first time. My last five years on the show have been hard – not because of the show. I love the show so much, but we have an executive producer new, I think five years ago now. I had just won with Bobby Bones and he decided not to bring me back. “There’s been a lot of speculation as to why,” added Burgess.
Captioning the clip, the professional dancer revealed that she had to overcome her “disappointment” about the performance. He noted that when the podcast was recorded he was still processing the news but tried his best to speak with “a little grace and find my gratitude.”
“We talked about my last 5 years with the show and how (difficult) they felt, how I felt not being asked, my insecurities that came up. I’m basically stumbling through my thoughts while @randyspelling and @brianaustingreen listen and help. Love them both,” he wrote.
Burgess clarified that it was not his intention to stir up any drama, adding, “No shade, but maybe a little tea to sip. What at the end of the day is just me sharing my experience, the truth and my feelings.”
The mother of one stated that she is gradually getting over the pain, writing, “Today I feel joy, gratitude and deep love for it all. Especially this space of freedom, family creativity and everything that has started to align with me .”
Fans of the professional dancer took to the comments section to offer their support to Burgess while others shared their thoughts on the matter. One fan wrote, “I think they’re just trying to have more variety this season with people who have never danced before v. Pros who have done it every year.”
Another wrote, “I feel like this happened to Artem a while ago and then he came back and got a trophy. Everything happens for a reason so hopefully there’s a good reason.”
A third revealed, “About listening to the podcast but since your win with Bobby Bones (which was due to a fan vote) I think for some reason they’ve boycotted you and it’s not fair.”
Burgess Previously Anticipated Her Return to the Reality Show
Although the Australian-born choreographer boldly stated that he was not invited to compete in the 32nd season of “DWTS,” he was full of hope two months ago, when the cast was not selected.
In July, Sharna Burgess revealed her intentions on her Instagram Story about planning to compete on the popular reality TV show after taking a year off.
Involving her fans in her story, the “DWTS” alum revealed, “I want to go back and dance. I really crave dancing and creating and also competing! I feel like that I want the edge and the feeling of competing for something.”
The mother of one stated that although she is looking forward to being on screen again, she does not regret taking time to focus on herself. She wrote, “I missed out last year I know but I don’t regret the decision because of what I got to share with Zane. I don’t regret the last 12 months at all. But I’m so ready to dance.”
