Disapproval rating for President Biden hits record-high of 58% in new poll

President Biden’s disapproval rating is the highest it has ever been as the 80-year-old incumbent runs for a second term in office, according to a new poll.

A record 58% of Americans disapprove of Biden’s performance in the White House, a CNBC poll released Wednesday found.

The president receives very low marks for handling the economy – 32% approve – and foreign policy – 31% approve.

Among Democrats surveyed, 66% support his handling of foreign policy, and 74% approve of his work on the economy. The result was well below his 81% overall approval rating from members of his own party.

“You don’t get a sub-40 approval rating without losing a large portion of your base. And that’s what happened here,” Republican pollster Micah Roberts told CNBC.

The pollster called the result “a sad number for a president facing re-election.”

Biden’s numbers among young, black and Latino voters are “very concerning,” Democratic pollster Jay Campbell told the outlet.

“You start to think that maybe they’ve run out of patience, and it’s starting to show their deterioration towards the president,” Campbell said.

In a potential head-to-head matchup against former President Donald Trump, Biden would lose by 4 points, the poll found. The results showed 46% supported the 77-year-old former president compared to 42% who would support the incumbent.

A poll conducted following Israel’s declaration of war against Hamas terrorists, between October 11 and October 15, found that a majority of Americans – 74% – agreed that the US government should support military aid for Israel.

A majority – 39% – also said that US policy should favor Israel, compared to 6% who said it should favor the Palestinians and 36% who said US policy should treat both groups equally.

A Quinnipiac poll released Tuesday found only 42% approved of Biden’s response to the October 7 Hamas terrorist attack on Israel. The same number approve of US policy toward Israel, according to polls.

Quinnipiac found that Biden has a 56% disapproval rating among registered voters.

Biden announced $100 million in humanitarian aid for the Palestinian territories in the West Bank and Gaza Strip during his visit to Israel on Wednesday and said he plans to ask Congress for an “unprecedented” military aid package for the Jewish state.
