Distressing video shows teen pummel cashier as gang of kids swipe candy, vapes

A Washington State gas station cashier was beaten relentlessly by a teenager while four other youths raided the shelves for candy, vapes, cigarettes and just a handful of cash, police said.

Harrowing footage from inside the Friendly Normandy Market, in Normandy Park, captures the moment a teenager in a black hoodie takes a wild swing at cashier Leah Johnston — to buy time for his accomplice to rob a petrol station on Friday night.

The boy delivered blow after blow to Johnston, who tried to yell at him to stop as he covered his face and fell to the ground.

“At one point I told him, ‘You can stop hitting me. I’m not fighting you,'” Johnston told Fox 13. “It didn’t slow him down.

“They laughed. They don’t have [regard] for anything,” he added. “They don’t care anymore.”

As Johnston suffered a severe beating, another teenager — wearing a black hoodie and matching pants — robbed a cigarette case behind the cash register.

The teenagers could be seen losing most of their catch when they ran out, and they ended up taking less than $100 from the register.

Officials said a total of six suspects were involved in the attack and robbery at the gas station.

Police said the suspect is believed to be a teenager, who fled the scene in a stolen Kia and Hyundai car. The cars were recovered following the incident.

Johnston said that while he had heard about these types of raids, which have plagued big-city retailers in recent years, he never imagined they would happen at his store.

“I knew in the back of my mind it could always happen, but I never thought that I would be attacked the way I was.” Johnston said.

“I mean, my face hurts, but my pride, I think, hurts more,” he lamented.

Normandy Park police said they have been working with the King County Sheriff’s Department in investigating the case, with Crime Stoppers Puget Sound offering a $1,000 cash reward for information on the suspect.
