A retired California police chief was deliberately struck and killed while riding his bike in Las Vegas by a laughing teenage driver whose friend could be heard saying “Yeah, kick his ass,” a video of the incident shows.
Andreas Probst, 64, was killed after he was intentionally hit while out for a morning bike ride around 6 a.m. on Aug. 14, according to Las Vegas police.
The unidentified 17-year-old driver of the Hyundai was taken into custody a short time later, The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.
The teenager has been charged with murder, after police discovered a video uploaded to social media allegedly showing him deliberately hitting the man.
This weekend, shocking footage went viral online, showing the driver asking his friends “ready?” as a passenger movie, laugh.
“Yeah, kick his ass,” he told the driver before plowing into the pensioner.

The disturbing clip, reviewed by the Daily Mail, begins with passengers cursing at other cars as they speed along Jalan Tenaya Utara, near West Centennial Parkway.
Video show the car approached a man in red riding a bicycle on the side of the road from behind. With the encouragement of his friends, the driver pulled into the bike lane behind him, honked his horn, and deliberately hit his rear tire with a loud bang, sending the cyclist flying.
Passengers filmed the man lying helpless on the side of the road behind the vehicle.
“Damn that na got knocked out!” said the passenger as the driver stepped on the gas.

Probst was taken to University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, according to the Journal of Studies.
It is unclear whether the passenger who filmed the killing has been charged with any crime.
The 17-year-old was arrested the same day as Probst’s death on suspicion of hit-and-run. He was later charged with murder over the video, although the date the charge was set is unclear.

The former cop had moved to Sin City after he retired as police chief in Bell, California in 2009, according to reports.
Earlier this month, a memorial service was held for Probst, who spent 35 years in law enforcement, KLAS reported.
“He’s honestly like sunshine,” Taylor Probst said of her father. “That just flows in your life.”
“He was an incredible man, a husband,” added Probst’s wife, Crystal. “A father, a brother.”
