These firefighters are the bearers of good news.
A dog has been rescued after spending three days trapped in a Tennessee cave with a 200-pound bear, according to local officials.
Fire officials in Waldens Creek, about 25 miles southeast of Knoxville, responded to a report of a missing dog, Charlie, who was found trapped 40 feet down a narrow cave shaft in the woods on Oct. 10.
But when a firefighter descended into the cave to rescue the dog, he rounded a bend and ran into a bear sleeping about five feet below the pup, trapping Charlie deeper in the cave, the Walden Creek Fire Department said. .
The rescue team decided to set up a camera and wait to see if the bear would leave.

The next day, the bear left and did not return to the cave, allowing rescue efforts to continue, officials said.
Using a rope system, responders descended into the cave and found Charlie, whom they strapped into a harness and pulled out of the cave. He was “quickly reunited with his happy owner,” fire officials said.
A video posted by the department showed the black and brown moment being brought out of the cave to applause.
“Good kid!” one person said.
Fortunately, Charlie was not harmed by his burly roommate.
“All told, Charlie was trapped in the cave for three days and for some of that time, shared it (unwillingly) with an approximately 2-year-old, 200-pound bear,” the fire department said.
“He is dehydrated and hungry, but in good condition,” they said.
