Dogs rips ‘chunks’ out of wheelchair-bound man in caught-on-tape attack

A Florida man in a wheelchair was torn apart by a pair of dogs in a vicious attack that left witnesses powerless to stop the animals from biting “chunks” out of the victim.

The sickening, partially blurry footage obtained by WPLG shows the two dogs taking turns biting the man, known as Smoky in the Florida City neighborhood, as he lay on the ground with his wheelchair propped up last Wednesday.

The badly injured victim, who a neighbor said was a homeless man, was pulled over mercilessly as nearby drivers honked their horns furiously in hopes of scaring off the canine, footage shows.

At one point a commercial truck driver was seen honking right next to the scene but to no avail.

A witness told the station that the disabled man got “chunks” from him while neighbors also threw objects at the dogs in an attempt to stop them.

“The dogs will not escape this man,” he said. “The concrete shaft has a loud horn and it doesn’t work.”

Smoky was taken to the hospital and required arm surgery.

The dogs, named Boo-boo and Jumpety, live at a nearby property, neighbors told local outlets.

While their owners are now in jail, others were watching the dogs before they went through the fence, the station reported.

Another neighbor told WSVN when he heard the sirens go off, he thought it was a car accident.

“When I looked, he was lying on the ground, his arms hanging like this,” he said. “The dog is full of blood, he is full of blood.”

Miami-Dade County Animal Control said the dogs are in its custody. The organization has not yet decided whether the vicious dog will be euthanized, according to reports.

Boo-boo is usually better behaved while Jumpety is known to exhibit aggressive behavior, residents previously told WPLG.

“Jumpety, the black one, he jumped over the fence. He could literally jump over fences,” a neighbor told the station. “I was very impressed and surprised by that. I think he is very dangerous because he has attacked other people before.”

Meanwhile, residents described Smoky as a welcome presence in the neighborhood.

“Smoky was a very good man,” said neighbor John Oz. “He’s homeless, but he has people supporting him.”
