In a recent interview on Greatest Hits Radio, Parton revealed that she is “not going to retire” from music despite her advancing years.

The “Jolene” singer, who has spent nearly six decades as a presence on both the country and pop music charts, stated that rather than retire from music, she “hopes to die in the middle of a song on stage one day.”

After expressing her desire to remain in the music spotlight, Parton admitted that the physical limitations that come with age have caused her to curtail her touring activities.

“I’m not touring anymore, but I’ll continue to do special shows here and there, like long weekends or festival shows,” the “I Will Always Love You” singer revealed, per Daily Mail.

He added, “You have to go so long on tour to make it productive and prosperous, and that’s a lot of time at my age – I don’t have time to waste.”

Parton also shared that she hopes to invest more of her time in the film industry and is interested in putting her story on the silver screen in the near future.

“I want to have my own story called The Life of Many Colors where I have a whole TV series in my life,” she revealed.

As for what fans should expect from the prospective project, he revealed that it will center on a never-before-seen part of fame.

“Things that people have never seen or heard about me and where I came from and how I became how and who I am. The bad, the good and the ugly,” he continued.

Additionally, Parton plans to move into the fashion industry, with regards to owning a “makeup, wig and clothing line,” and hints that she has received offers to make such a project a reality.”

Earlier that month, Parton gave her thoughts on AI technology being used as a way to preserve her legacy during a press conference in London, per CNN.

At the time, he stated that he had done enough to “leave a lot of great work behind” and “had to decide how much high-tech stuff I wanted to be involved in because I didn’t want to leave my soul on this Earth.”

Although he hasn’t reached a final decision to use AI, the singer wants albums like his upcoming project “Rockstar” to serve as a lasting testament to his legacy.

Scheduled for release in November 2023, “Rockstar” will be Parton’s 49th studio album. It will showcase a total of 30 songs, including exciting collaborations with famous artists such as Elton John, Sting, and Pink.

Parton recently added a third Emmy nomination to her growing list of awards following the success of her NBC special “Dolly Parton’s Mountain Magic Christmas.”

The musical, which features guest performances from Willie Nelson and Miley Cyrus, depicts Parton as a fictionalized version of herself and follows her journey to “uplift a weary world by sharing the unique magic of the mountains,” per IMDB.
