Former CNN anchor Don Lemon is gearing up for his highly anticipated return to broadcasting, but he couldn’t have picked a worse place to start.
After losing his longtime show on CNN, the TV personality recently announced he’s bringing his own show to several streaming sites. The program will make its first splash on X, formerly known as Twitter; however, fans were not happy with his decision to use Elon Musk’s platform.
Fans Declare They’ll Boycott Don Lemon’s New Show If He Goes to X
Lemon excitedly revealed his latest career move with a statement shared on Tuesday, January 9. While the self-titled show doesn’t have a premiere date, it will feature “honest debate and discussion without board monitors.”
“I’ve heard you… and today, I’m back bigger, bolder, freer! The first project of my new media company is The Don Lemon Show. It will be available to everyone, easily, whenever and wherever you want, streaming on the platform where the conversation happens,” the former news investigator declared, adding:
“And you’ll find it first at X, the largest space for free speech in the world. I know now more than ever that we need a place for honest debate and discussion without board monitors. This is just the beginning, so stay tuned.”

Unfortunately for Lemon, his Instagram announcement did not generate a positive response from fans. Many were disappointed with his decision to use X and declared they would not support his plan because Musk allegedly ruined the platform.
“You gave me up to ‘X’ sir,” one disgruntled fan wrote, with another lamenting, “I had to re-read your sentence about X three times. Biggest room for free speech? Does EM contractually oblige you to write that??? Hope to see you on another platform.”
“So glad you’re back!!!!! I’m sorry, but I can’t subscribe to X. I won’t support the owner. But please let us know as you branch out and cheer for the next chapter,” wrote a third person. A fourth Instagram user echoed the same sentiment with a comment:
“I’m so excited for you! Unfortunately, I can’t support X, but SECOND you are available on other platforms, I’ll be there with the bell on! Good luck and lots of love!”
More Musk critics bared their fangs, with one wondering: “Why X?!? Can’t subscribe to Mr. Wacko anymore. Maybe find a better platform???” One disappointed fan voiced their displeasure to Lemon, writing: “Don’t go on X. I appreciate you more.”
“On X? Seriously? That’s a shame. Has your account been hacked?” One wondered while another advised Lemon to switch platforms. “You’re better off using YouTube! X’s popularity has been declining over time. Don’t go out like this,” asked the individual.
Don Lemon Reflects Positively On His Departure From CNN

Before fans slammed Lemon for his connection to the X platform, the former CNN anchor reflected on his future after his departure from the news network. He was fired last April with his termination allegedly linked to his infamous comments about Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley.
Despite spending more than a decade with CNN, Lemon did not mourn his termination but accepted what happened with grace. She made a surprise appearance at the Time 100 Gala in New York, telling sources she wasn’t worried about her future. In his words:
“You are more worried about me than I am. Life goes on. That’s behind me, and we’ll see what happens. I live my life with no regrets, and whatever I do, I do, I own. I don’t look back and I don’t want to change things in the past … Move on.”
Lemon insists that life is too short to worry about obstacles in one’s path, adding, “Whatever life throws at you, you have to swing and weave and go with it,” he said. The media personality drew inspiration from past struggles, such as the death of her sister and her father’s fatal diabetes, stating:
“So, there are many unexpected things that happen to you, but I am a survivor. I come from strong, sturdy stock in Louisiana, and many people support me and love me.
As for her future, Lemon stated she is “excited for a new chapter” and plans to enjoy her newfound freedom “On the beach and the boat, and with my family.” Additionally, he revealed plans to take a break and see what happens next in his life, mainly because he’s “lucky enough to be in a position where I can do that.”
