The political heavyweight, known for his robust and often controversial thinking, has launched a counterattack through his own social media platforms.

On X (formerly Twitter), a user quoted the 77-year-old’s rant which was shared on the Truth Social platform with caption“Trump is focusing on big issues like the director of Home Alone 2 saying nasty things about him.”

In the lengthy statement, Trump asserted that the filmmakers “begged” him to appear in the 1992 film, which was shot at the Plaza Hotel he owned at the time. He stated his version of events, saying:

“I’m very busy, and don’t want to do it. They are nice, but above all, persistent. I agreed, and the rest is history!”

The businessman emphasized the film’s success, especially during Christmas, highlighting that his cameo took off “like a rocket.” Trump also pointed out that people still call him every time the movie airs.

He defended his presence in the film by further questioning, “If they felt bullied, or didn’t want me, why did they put me in, and keep me there, for over 30 years?” The entrepreneur argued that her appearance contributed to the film’s enduring popularity and remains important.

ICYMI, the director’s alleged bullying came in an interview where he mentioned that Trump was looking for a cameo appearance along with a regular fee for a hotel shoot.

In a behind-the-scenes revelation, Columbus shared that initially, the filmmakers expected to pay Trump a standard fee for filming at the Plaza Hotel, which he owned at the time. However, the businessman had an additional request.

The 65-year-old revealed, “We paid the fee, but he also said, ‘The only way you can use the Plaza is if I’m in the movie.’ So we agreed to put him in the film.”

Initially unsure about Trump’s cameo, the director of “Adventures in Babysitting” planned to cut the scene. However, positive audience reaction changed course, prompting Columbus to instruct editors, “Let him be in the movie. It’s a moment for the audience.”

Even so, he insists that the politician “bullied his way into the movie.”

Social Truth Donald Trump Faces Financial Crisis

In contrast to the cinematic drama surrounding Trump’s cameo, his social media platform, Truth Social, is facing financial challenges that may lead to its shutdown.

Launched in February 2022 as an alternative to mainstream social networks following Trump’s ban from several platforms, Truth Social has struggled to turn the father-of-five’s presence into revenue for the Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG).

The first public disclosure of financial details revealed a $50 million loss for Truth Social in 2022, along with modest net sales of $1.4 million. In another financial filing, the platform experienced revenue of $2.3 million in the first half of 2023. However, the financial statement also revealed a huge loss of $23 million.

The precarious financial situation was highlighted, with independent registered public accounting firm TMTG expressing “doubts about its ability to continue as a going concern.”

The assessment further revealed concerns about meeting liabilities and “raising additional funds through traditional funding sources in the absence of material progress toward completing its merger with Digital World.”

The potential merger, initially valued at $875 million, is critical to TMTG’s survival. The future of the company is at risk if the merger fails to materialize along with the expected funds.

It also noted that Trump’s latest financial disclosures show a significant drop in TMTG’s valuation, with his controlling interest estimated at between $5 million and $25 million.

According to the document, “On March 1, 2023, TMTG has eliminated several positions. This action follows a review of all departments, most significantly impacting TMTG’s streaming video on demand (SVOD) and infrastructure teams.”

While Trump has returned to other social networks, he continues to emphasize Truth Social as his primary platform.
