Donald Trump GoFundMe Raises $500K In 3 Days Thanks To Over 10,000 Donations

Donald Trump’s fundraiser to pay a $355 million New York fraud attempt has surpassed half a million donations.

The fundraiser was launched on GoFundMe hours after the decision was made in protest against what MAGA supporters see as a miscarriage of justice.

The billionaire also took to social media to lash out at the judge and prosecutors on the case, calling them “corrupt” and “crooked.”

Trump’s GoFundMe has passed the $500k mark just three days after Elena Cardone, wife of real estate mogul Grant Cardone, created it.

Elena tagged the page with the words “Stand with Trump; Funding a $355 million Unfair Judgment,” referring to the fine imposed on Trump in his fraud trial in New York for falsely inflating the value of his assets in financial documents.

Some Trump loyalists donated $500, and some gave as much as $10,000. Since its launch, over 10,000 donations have been made, and more individuals are expected to join the MAGA donor league in the coming days.

As seen in the fund’s title, it will be used to pay fines if Trump’s potential appeal of the decision in an appeals court fails to overturn the current decision.

One individual said, “His daughter and son-in-law have 2 billion. Let them save him.”

Another said, “What a ball. He’s a billionaire with a scary 747 private jet. He can liquidate some assets. Stop trying to make people live paycheck to paycheck to pay the bills.”

Another user wrote, “Since Trump said Mar-a-lago is worth $1.5 billion, he should sell it, pay the fine, and pocket the difference. It’s a clownish move to GoFundMe for a man who claims to be a billionaire.”

Several other social media users also called out GoFundMe, saying the fundraiser violated their policies. In response to the statement, Jalen Drummond, director of public affairs at the company, told news week, “This fundraiser is currently in our terms of service.”

Despite how great the fundraiser was, one expert labeled it a futile effort, saying it wouldn’t pay the interest on the fine.

“It is remarkable that it has raised less than $0.5 million in three days. That won’t cover the interest he owes,” said University of Surrey’s American politics lecturer, Dr. Mark Shanahan. News Week in an interview.

He added, “Even if any decision on whether he has to pay could be held up in the appeals process if Trump’s lawyers could find enough reason to persuade the judiciary to send his case back to court—absolutely not a given—he would still have to deposit much of what he owed in escrow. He needs more than a loyal MAGA to satisfy the lawsuit.”

Trump is expected to pay a nine percent interest rate on the total damages as mandated by the state of New York. Additionally, according to a pre-trial ruling in the case, the fine “will continue to increase daily” until Trump complies.

Following the verdict, Trump used Truth’s social media to lash out at Arthur Engoron, the judge in the case, and Letitia James, the New York Attorney General.. He called Engoron “crooked” and described James as “corrupt.”

He also said that the decision was an “un-American judgment on” him, his family, and his “big business,” adding that “the radicals are doing everything they can to kick” him.

In a separate post, he went on to claim that the results were a case of “election interference” and a “witch hunt.”

As part of the ruling, Trump is also barred for three years from holding any high office in any New York corporation or legal entity within the state. His sons Eric and Donald Jr., who were also charged in the case, were fined more than four million dollars each, along with a two-year business ban.
