‘Doomsday’ prepper and his teen son busted with ghost guns and grenades after school shooting threat: cops

A “Doomsday” prepper and his teenage son were busted Tuesday with a terrifying cache of weapons — including a ghost rifle and even a rocket-propelled grenade — after the boy threatened to shoot up his California high school.

Neil Anders, 45, and his son, an unidentified Rancho Bernardo High School student, were arrested after police found several unregistered and unserialized firearms at their San Diego home, authorities said.

They also had manufacturing supplies to make so-called ghost guns – as well as a large stockpile of explosives and rocket-propelled grenades, according to police.

The raid came after the teenager allegedly told some of his classmates on Friday that they planned to shoot up the school on Tuesday, the day they were arrested, police said.

The campus was swept for explosives and deemed safe, according to police, who reportedly plan to have additional police on campus as a precaution.

Anders is a “Doomsday” investigator, police told KNSD–TV, without further comment.

He was charged with possession of an illegal firearm, manufacturing an offensive weapon and possession of a destructive device, police said in a press release.

His teenage son is being held at a juvenile detention center, police said.

His wife and other children were at their home on Avenida Sivrita at the time of the raid, which is just a few blocks from the school, the report said. Other family members were not charged.

The unit worked tirelessly and cooperatively on this case to ensure the safety of students at Rancho Bernardo High School and all residents,” wrote San Diego Police Chief David Nisleit.

“I commend them for their excellent work.”

The arrest comes three weeks after a teenager allegedly opened fire on his school in Iowa, killing the principal and an 11-year-old and wounding six others.
