Dr. Dre Sued By Producer Over Rights To Kendrick Lamar Song

Dr. Dre is being sued by a producer who claims the music mogul used his song without permission, and without paying.

The veteran rapper is being dragged to court by music producer Micah Foster, who says he created a hit record for Kendrick Lamar.

According to the legal document, obtained by ExplosionMicah said he created a song on SoundCloud in 2013 titled “The Don Big Boss Whistle 2013 (‘Boss 2013’).

In the filing, Foster claims that Aftermath and Dr. Dre discovered, heard and listened to his beats and songs on SoundCloud — and used them in the mix.

Micah has a discography with Dre and Aftermath (aka the defendant).

Apparently, this has been an old case in the California legal system, Micah said it was a simple case of (Dre)’s failure to comply with honest interactions with him.

Micah stated that he had been in a relationship with Dr. Dre, and their relationship included good times and bad. Unfortunately, this case covers a bad time where he was involved in a violation for failing to pay Micah properly.

He claimed, Dr. Dre and Aftermath covered his song on Kendrick Lamar’s “The Heart Part 5 (‘Heart 5’)”, released on May 8, 2022.

Micah claims he can easily hear the beat and his tracks are mixed with Marvin Gaye tracks. He said the track ‘Boss 2013’ is a basic track below and did not receive payment from Dr. Dre or Aftermath.

The amount in controversy in this matter exceeds the sum of $100,000, exclusive of interest and costs. Thus, an issue arose regarding the failure to request the use of ‘Boss 2013’ beat and track while failing to pay royalties to Micah.

Rather, the issue is that the Defendants, and each of them, failed to notify or pay Micah for the use of his music. He claims Dre and Aftermath knew full well that Micah was entitled to payments and royalties.

Starting on May 8, 2022, until now, Micah stated that they knowingly infringed and used his song ‘Boss 2013’ to receive money and compensation.

Until now, Dr. Dre allegedly failed to provide those payments, royalties and accounting to justify the use of ‘Boss 2013.’ Given the past history between the two parties, Micah filed this case to assert the financial loss he suffered as a result of the alleged violation.

Finally, the publisher said Dr. Neither Dre nor his team has provided an accounting or compensation for the use and any royalty payments for the track. He is seeking over $100,000 in damages.
