Dr. Michael Heiser, a renowned Old Testament researcher, and novelist, died on February 20 of stage 4 pancreatic cancer. His official Twitter profile also paid tribute to him, sharing a photo with the caption:
“Dr. Michael S. Heiser, our beloved brother, teacher, and friend, has entered the Unknown World – 02/20/23 @ 3:45pm EDT.”
He wrote several works, some of which depended on his understanding of the spiritual themes of the scriptures and the essence of spiritual subjects.

Pancreatic cancer prognosis Dr. Michael Heiser
In 2020, Michael S. Heiser was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He was taken to the hospital last month, and his wife, Drenna Heiser, posted a report on his Facebook status. Drenna noted that she noticed a difference in Heiser’s health after Christmas, including changes in his vitality, endurance, hunger and appearance. According to the report, his health took a turn for the worse on New Year’s Eve, and they rushed him to the ER thinking he was exhausted. Drenna wrote, revealing what the ED doctor said:
“Mike had about 4 pints of blood in his body when he should have 12-14 points for a man his height, according to the ED doctor. This, to say the least, was shocking. A blood transfusion was requested. On Sunday, he got three doses, and he felt better almost immediately!”
Michael needed two more units of blood because of insufficient hemoglobin levels. He stated that doctors are trying to determine the cause of blood loss and restore hemoglobin. Drenna continued, stating that she was in good shape:
“Our prayer request is for a stable blood count, identification of the cause of blood loss, improvement in hunger and vitality, and medical clearance in time for his meeting at the Mayo Clinic on Thursday. We adore you all and appreciate all the prayers, texts, your thoughts, support and encouragement since Mike’s news.”
On January 22, 2023, Michael revealed on Facebook that his cancer was in its last phase and it had significant effects on his upper Gastrointestinal and stomach, resulting in a lot of bleeding. He stated that there was no cure and that during his most recent endoscopy, the specialist tried to cauterize the bleeding spots to slow it down.

Dr. Michael Heiser was born on February 14, 1963, and attended the University of Pennsylvania, where he earned a BA in Classical History. He then continued his studies to obtain a BA and Ph.D. in Hebrew Scriptures and Arabic at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Dr. Michael Heiser is known for his works and holds a number of important roles, including as Faithlife Corporation’s scholar-in-residence, Chief Executive of the School of Ministry at Jacksonville Church in Florida, and lecturer at Liberty University.
