Dr. Robin Radhakrishnan, better known as Doctor Machaan, was born in 1991 (age 31 years; in 2022) in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.

He studied MBBS at Government Medical College, Chidambaram, Tamil Nadu. In an interview, he shared that he was a below average student in school. He further said,

I failed many exams and became a backbencher. My parents, like others, used to ask me to learn from other students. I was fat and uncomfortable, stopped participating in programs, and was always alone. But I believe in the power of dreams. I worked hard, cleared medical entrance and got admission in Chidambaram Government Medical College. Today, I work in the hospital where I was born.”

Career

After completing MBBS, he started practicing as a doctor at GG Hospital, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. In 2019, he gained immense popularity with the online talk show ‘Chat with Doctor Machaan,’ aired on Kaumudy TV.

He then started making motivational videos on Instagram. His videos are also available on his self-titled YouTube channel. In an interview, while talking about making motivational videos, he said,

My first video was about ‘motivating people’. But I don’t call myself a motivational speaker; I’m talking about what I’ve experienced in my 29-year-old life – very simple and relatable things, as you can see. Things we fail to notice. As the number of followers increased, people started sending me messages. I get at least 2,000 messages a day, from eighth graders to middle-aged men. I found that they felt comfortable to reveal their problems to me. I never knew I could make such a difference. I replied to each text message, hoping my little effort would help them. On the other hand, I am a very normal person. I can be angry and moody sometimes. But when it comes to putting a smile on someone’s face, I try my best not to be selfish.”
