Drake Loses Hefty Sum After Betting On Jake Paul To Knock Out Tommy Fury

Rapper Drake has lost a huge bet he placed on Jake Paul to defeat Tommy Fury.

The “One Dance” singer bet $400,000 on the social media star for a possible $1.44 million if the fight goes in her favor. Fury’s brother, Tyson, who is a famous boxer, bet $100,000 for his brother to appear in the ring.

Drake has previously placed big bets on the Super Bowl, AFC Championship, UFC and World Cup. The rapper was also recently released from having to undergo a deposition following his alleged involvement in XXXTentacion’s murder.

Following the much-anticipated showdown between Tommy Fury and influencer Jake Paul, rapper Drake has lost a significant amount of money, according to Mirror.

Drake backed Paul to beat Fury by betting $400,000 on the YouTube Star. His bet will only be won if Paul defeats Fury by knockout. Unfortunately for the rapper, this did not happen, and the fight was ultimately decided by a narrow split decision loss in Fury’s favor.

On Drake’s Instagram page there was a betting slip posted, showing that Paul was given 3.60 odds to win the fight. This implies that Drake would have earned $1.44 million if the bet went in his favor and over $1 million if his holdings were excluded.

Meanwhile, Tommy’s brother, Tyson, supports him in taking out Paul when they hit the ring. In an interview with IFL TV, he shared that he bet $100,000 on his brother to pull off the win.

“I have 100 racks on him for long distance stops, so if he loses, then I will lose 100 bags as well. I got it on 3/1,” said The Gypsy King per Daily Mail.

He added confidently, “I knew Tommy was going to drop it. What’s quite stupid is that I see all these pundits and professional boxers picking Jake Paul over Tommy.”

Drake Is No Stranger To Losing Big And Winning In Bets

It’s no wonder Drake bet on the match given his reputation for sports gambling.

The Canadian rapper recently gambled a total of $965k on multiple bets on the Super Bowl, which saw the Kansas City Chiefs come out on top. Luckily, one of the bets paid off with a $1.477m win, netting the singer $512k.

The “God’s Plan” creator also won $2 million last month after placing a $1 million winning bet on the Chiefs to beat the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Championship.

Drake has also suffered some losses on some of his bets. He lost his $1 million stake in Argentina to beat France in the World Cup. When La Albiceleste, led by Lionel Messi, beat the Blues, the victory was won on penalties, which Drake’s bet did not count for.

Also, in November, he put up $2 million in Canadian money for Israel Adesanya to defeat Alex Pereira in UFC 281. However, the former was knocked out in the fifth round of the fight.

“I think I’m at a point now where I just want to, like, I guess maybe we’ll talk about this another day, but I feel like I kind of introduced the concept in my mind of a graceful exit,” the singer said, per Complex.

The rapper was also excused by a judge from having to take a deposition in the ongoing trial to bring XXXTentacion’s killer to justice.

The judge made the announcement on Friday afternoon, ordering the rapper’s name “strike” from the hearing. He ruled that there was insufficient evidence that Drake was responsible for XXXTentacion’s murder.

“Drake is among a group of hip-hop stars listed as potential defense witnesses,” the judge said, per CBS News.

Jahseh Onfroy, alias XXXTentacion was shot and died in Deerfield Beach in 2018. Onfroy had written on his Instagram page a few months ago that Drake would be the culprit if he was killed. Afterwards, he reported he had been hacked and retracted the message. Three people are now on trial for his death.
