Dramatic footage captures the “heroic” rescue of a 19-year-old driver who was pinned under an overturned 1.5-tonne car after speeding along a Georgia highway.
The teenager was racing around 11pm last week through Lawrenceville, a town 45 miles northeast of Atlanta, when he lost control of the car and crashed into the median, police said.
After being partially ejected from the sunroof, the driver was trapped between the road and the car — severely blocking his airway.

Several boys crawled out of the back seat of the car, desperately begging the responding officer to “help us please!”
“You, you and I – will lift this car now,” ordered Sergeant Peterson.
The group did their best to lift the car, but struggled under the vehicle’s 3,600-pound weight.

Fortunately, a second car of good Samaritans and three other Lawrenceville officers stopped to help rescue the trapped driver, giving them extra strength to raise the vehicle.
“Come on, yeah, we got this!” Peterson was heard saying.
Moments later, the injured teenager fell from the small space that his rescue team had opened for him.

The rescue of a few minutes came just in time.
“[The] heroic actions by Lawrenceville Police Officers and Good Samaritans saved the life of a motorist,” said Lawrenceville PD.
The 19-year-old driver was taken to an area hospital, where he was treated for multiple injuries sustained in the crash.
When he is released, he will face speeding, reckless driving, fleeing to elude a police officer and unsafe lane change charges, the department told Fox News.
