Drew Barrymore immediately went into best friend mode when she saw an audience member crying during a break from filming an episode of “The Drew Barrymore Show.”

While sitting on the steps to the stage during intermission, Barrymore noticed a member of the audience crying. He immediately jumped into the role of a caring best friend and started questioning the woman to see if everything was okay.
“Are you okay? Did anything happen? Who the** do I have to kick?” Barrymore asked as she got up and started towards the sobbing guest.
A fellow fan later told Barrymore, “She loves you so much,” to which Barrymore replied, “Oh my God, thank God nothing bad. Did you see me come here, I’m like, tell me where they are. I’m going to knock down them, who made you cry?”
A tearful audience member later told Barrymore, “You’re like my childhood idol.”
Olivia continued, “I don’t want to be that, like, cry.” Barrymore than said, “Screw that! Be that person!”
It was then that Barrymore became Olivia’s best friend and hugged her tightly before jumping into her lap.
“I’ve been wanting to do this. It’s an honor for me to meet you,” the talk show host told her new friend. She then apologized for her “dumpling breath” and explained that it’s okay to cry here because, “I cry here all the time.”

Olivia was one of many people who commented on the clip shared by “The Drew Barrymore Show” on Instagram. He commented, “Hey everyone it’s me.” Her Instagram bio reads, “Drew Barrymore’s biggest fan.”
Many Barrymore fans left comments for Olivia.
“Awww! That would be me. I really love him. He is the same age as me. I wish he was my bff,” wrote one. Another added, “Awww omigosh!! This is so beautiful! I’m glad you got to meet him!”

Other fans of the actress and her show also commented to leave their thoughts on the exchange between Olivia and her idol.
“I think Drew sitting on my lap will permanently rewire my brain and cure my restlessness and insomnia and anxiety for the rest of my life,” said one.
“Drew came to a grocery store in NYC late at night when I was a cashier and he was SO NICE to me & my coworkers! There was no one else in the store and he took the time to talk to us and was so sweet, I’ll never forget him,” shared another.
Someone who happened to be in the audience during this touching scene wrote, “As a spectator at this shoot, this really touched me. My friends and I were talking about how different this show experience was from the others. Drew’s vulnerability is so beautiful IRL.”
