What Is Dua Lipa’s Relationship With Albania?
Although the “Cold Heart” singer was born in London and is known globally as an English singer, her origins are from Albania as she was born to Kosovar-Albanian parents who fled the country due to conflict and political instability in the Balkans.
Despite leaving her home, Lipa has been instilled in her Albanian heritage by her parents, and this is evident in the way she proudly references her country of origin in her music, on social media, and even during interviews with the press.
The singer, who shares a close relationship with his family, founded the Sunny Hill Foundation with his father Dukagjin Lipa to help charities and financially support cultural events in Kosovo. He often goes to the country for family vacations from time to time.
Speaking about her shared heritage as Albanian and British, Lipa has often revealed that she believes she has the best of both worlds. He once said in an interview, “I feel very proud to be from both places, and I feel like I represent both places. In Kosovo, when you do something and you make this movement around the world, you immediately become an important person there.”
