Duane ‘Keffe D’ Davis charged with murder in Tupac Shakur shooting

A man linked to the fatal shooting of Tupac Shakur has been arrested and charged with murder in Las Vegas, prosecutors announced Friday.

Police arrested Duane “Keffe D” Davis early Friday morning, and a grand jury indicted him hours later, Chief Deputy District Attorney Marc DiGiacomo announced.

DiGiacomo said a grand jury has been sitting on the case for “several months.”

DiGiacomo described Davis, 60, as the “commander on the ground” who “ordered the death” of Shakur.

The arrest comes two months after Las Vegas police raided a home in Henderson, Nevada, on July 17. Records obtained by Page Six show the home belongs to Davis’ wife, Pamela Clemons.

Davis was taken into custody without incident while walking near his home where the search was conducted, the official said.

A copy of Davis’ book “Compton Street Legend” was also taken by police, the official said, as was a .40-caliber bullet cartridge – the same type used to gun down the rapper, a search warrant revealed.

Davis has claimed for years that he was a witness to the shooting of the “Changes” rapper, which took place on the Las Vegas Strip on September 7, 1996.

Shakur was riding in the passenger seat of a BMW driven by famed rap producer Marion “Suge” Knight after a boxing match when a white Cadillac pulled up alongside their vehicle on the night of September 7, 1996.

The occupants of the Cadillac opened fire, hitting Shakur three times in the chest and Knight. The “All Eyez on Me” rapper died from his injuries in hospital six days later. He is 25 years old.

Investigators long believed a possible suspect in the shooting – Orlando “Baby Lane’ Anderson – was dead, having been killed in a separate shooting two years after Shakur was killed.
