According to a new report, Underwood was picked up by police for domestic battery, which happened in the early morning hours of October 7.
The arrest came after the “Fear the Walking Dead” star got into an argument with an unidentified woman. He allegedly assaulted the woman, causing visible marks on her body, although she did not require medical attention at the time, per TMZ.
After being arrested, Underwood was held in a cell for 10 hours before being released on bail. He has since denied the allegations leveled against him. It is also unclear whether criminal charges will be brought against the actor by the Los Angeles Police Department.
However, if the case goes to court, Underwood appears to be ready, as reports state that her attorney has photographs, video footage and audio recordings that support her side of the story.
What Happens If Underwood Is Found Guilty?
If Underwood is charged in court and found guilty, a lot can happen. In extreme cases, the actor can be jailed for a period of time or be fined heavily. Instead, he could be required to attend mandatory counseling and anger management classes in addition to participating in a domestic violence program.
The court also usually issues a protection order that prevents him from contacting his victim, either physically or through other forms of communication.
Underwood may also be expected to surrender to the police all firearms in his possession. Violation of this court order can lead to additional criminal charges and possibly lengthy prison terms.
In the meantime, it remains unclear what led to the altercation or the nature of Underwood’s relationship with the unidentified woman. There has also been no public statement from the actor or his lawyer regarding the incident.
