While attending Abingdon School in Oxfordshire, England, he met the other members of Radiohead for the first time. O’Brien claimed that his role in the band was to serve and assist Thom Yorke, who wrote the songs. In 1999, he contributed to the music for the BBC television series Eureka Street. On 16 April 2011, he appeared on the sports section of BBC Radio 5 Live’s Battle Talk in favor of Record Store Day.
