Ed Sheeran And Taylor Swift Are Yet To Re-record ‘End Game’ As He Teases New Album

Singer Taylor Swift recently surprised fans with news of the re-recording of her highly anticipated album, “1989.” This revelation led fans to believe her sixth studio album, “Reputation,” would get the “Taylor’s Version” treatment next.

The singer’s friend and close “Cruel Summer” music collaborator, Ed Sheeran, has now confirmed in an interview that he hasn’t re-recorded their song “End Game”, which means that “Reputation” TV may take a while before it airs.

Sheeran also talked about possibly headlining the Super Bowl halftime show and called it an “American thing.” He says he doesn’t “have the pizazz” needed to perform like previous artists like Prince and Beyoncé.

During a recent interview on SiriusXM’s “Deep & Shallow” podcast with Andy Cohen (via Billboard), Ed Sheeran talks about his best friend, Taylor Swift. He revealed that they have re-recorded most of their songs together, except for “End Game.” The song also features rapper Future and is on Swift’s album “Reputation.”

Sheeran told Cohen that the next re-recorded album coming out is Swift’s “1989.” It will be his fourth re-release, leaving only “Reputation” and his self-titled debut album. “Reputation” was his last album with Big Machine, his highly controversial former record label.

Sheeran and Swift previously collaborated on a re-recording of “Everything Has Changed” from the “Red Album” as well as “Run” from her unreleased Vault collection. At her final performance for the first leg of her US tour, Swift herself confirmed her 1989 version would be her next project release.

Sheeran discussed his next album with Cohen, saying that it will be released soon. The “I See Fire” singer previously teased this post to fans on social media, including an Instagram post “Autumn is coming.” Since posting his jersey at a recent concert, Sheeran fans have been speculating online about the album’s release date. They believe it will debut in September, possibly on the 29th, which is the peak fall period. Sheeran himself simply said, “It’s an album about Autumn and I didn’t expect that.”

The singer explained that he had this Autumn project in the works for some time. He stated, “It was the album I was trying to make, and then ‘Pull’ happened. So I’ve been working on it over the last year and, yeah, it’s ready for release, so I’m going to put it out.”

While chatting with Cohen, Sheeran also discussed the possibility of him performing at the Super Bowl halftime show. He rejected the idea and said he thought the halftime show was an “American thing” and not for him.

The “Photographer” singer further explained that he doesn’t have the “pizazz” to perform like previous singers, such as Prince, Michael Jackson, Rihanna and Beyoncé. He said, “Like all these great entertainers. I’m not like that; I won’t have dancers on stage.”

At this time, a performer for the 2024 Super Bowl Halftime show has not yet been announced. Singers considered include Miley Cyrus, Drake, Taylor Swift, and others. The 2023 Super Bowl halftime show was by Rihanna, where she debuted her second pregnancy.

Ed Sheeran Wants to Attend Taylor Swift’s Eras Show

Taylor Swift delighted her legions of fans as she took to the stage in a number of glittering outfit changes during her Eras Tour stop in Tampa, FloridaMEGA

In his interview, Cohen also asked Sheeran if he had plans to attend Beyoncé’s ongoing Eras Tour and Renaissance Tour. Both shows have dates that largely coincide with the dates of Sheeran’s Subtract tour. While Sheeran didn’t comment on attending Renaissance, he did talk about seeing Swift perform live.

He said, “I think what’s interesting about everyone’s performances is that everyone’s performances are so individual to them. And everyone has a different show — we all play. I’d love to go and see Taylor’s show, but we’re all playing the same dates every weekend. I think there’s a chance next year when he’s in the UK”

Swift kicks off her Eras UK tour in June 2024, with four stops in London, Cardiff, Edinburgh and Liverpool. Both the Era and the Renaissance have become cultural phenomena that have had a major impact on the tourism industry of the cities they have implemented. Both tours are poised to reach and surpass the $1 billion sales record, which will go down in history.
