In a subsequent post on Sunday, the “Shape of You” artist shared screenshots of news reports and personal updates for his fans. As reported by The Blast, the conversation took place before her performance in New York, where the “Modern Love” guest star discussed the potential of brightening up the iconic sporting event.

When asked about the Super Bowl, Sheeran revealed past discussions about possibly joining British act Coldplay to perform “Thinking Out Loud” when they sponsored the event in 2016.

The record producer mentioned to the host that he was open to a headlining act but didn’t find it interesting to be the main act. He humbly admits:

“I don’t think anyone wants to see me do the Super Bowl either. I think the only way I’m going to do that is if I join other people.”

The father of two gave additional reasons for his reservations, citing his belief that it was an “American thing”, adding, “I have no pizazz.” Sheeran emphasized that his typical performance relies heavily on his loop pedal, which would not meet the NFL’s performance requirements.

He contrasted his style with the elaborate productions of artists like Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, and The Weeknd, stating, “All these great entertainers, I’m not like that. I won’t have dancers on stage. I won’t have fireworks and blah blah, I can’t; that’s not me.”
