Rich is best known for his role in the hit 1977 sitcom “Eight is Enough,” which ran for five seasons until May 1981. Rich starred as one of Bradford’s sons, Nicholas, throughout the series.

Rich was confirmed dead at his home in LA by family members, according to TMZ.
Although the cause of death has yet to be identified, law enforcement sources shared with the news outlet that an unknown person found him dead at his home while visiting the actor. The source also assured that there was no foul play.
The “Code Red” actor starred in several TV shows and commercials during his more than three-decade career as an actor. However, he first rose to fame with his stellar performance in the sitcom “Eight is Enough”.

The actor, who was born on October 12, 1968, played the eighth and youngest child of the Bradford family in the TV series. The show follows the coming of age and struggles of independent children raised under their father, Tom. Time passed, they grew up, got married, and even had children of their own.
Several other popular actors such as Lani O’Grady, Grant Goodeve, Dick Van Patten, and Connie Needham also starred in the show. Rich remains in the minds of his customers years after being on the show, as they still praise his performances decades later.
In a 2011 meeting with Television Academy Foundation, Van Patten told Stephen J. Abramson that Rich was a big reason for the show’s success. “I think he is the reason the show was a big success,” he said. “People love him! [fans] named a child Nicholas … because of him.”
He also added that he fits the role perfectly because he is “adorable” enough for the part of the last child and is both “good” and “a very natural actor.” Rich also showed his great acting skills in other TV shows.

His most recent credits include his brief appearance in an episode of “Comedy Reel” as Crocodile Dundee in 2003 and his role as David Spade in “Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star” the same year.

Rich has run into some trouble with the authorities regarding allegations of substance abuse. In 1992, police arrested him for breaking into a West Hills pharmacy through a window. Through L.A. Timesthe actor was 22 when he broke into Medallion Prescription Pharmacy to pick up painkillers he was addicted to at the time.
Police, who responded to the pharmacy’s security alarm, arrested and detained him at around 4am and also charged the star with reckless driving. Luckily for her, her TV dad, Van Patten, came to her rescue. Following that, he spent some time in rehab in an effort to get better.
However, the star was arrested again a decade later, in 2002, for driving under the influence and nearly hitting a California Patrol vehicle. Per CBS Newswhen asked about this in court, he denied all charges and insisted that he had been clean of all substances for ten years.
