Non-citizens are also prohibited from voting in state elections, although some municipalities allow voting at the local level. New York City does not allow non-citizens to vote.

Musk’s online claims of immigrant-driven voter packing came as a Republican-led House panel last week approved articles of impeachment against Mayorkas over his handling of the border crisis.
Musk posted an online poll on X asking readers whether Mayorkas should be prosecuted.
When one commenter stated that the secretary of Homeland Security should “face criminal charges for flagrantly violating his oath of office,” Musk replied, “I agree.”
