“How can something be an insult to someone’s sexuality when the “insult” has nothing to do with sexuality? This is very embarrassing. In case you missed it, the 52-year-old’s initial comments about the term were in response to a post from X user James Esses, who describes himself as a “defender of gender ideology” and has previously expressed views that some consider anti-trans.

In Essays’ X, he mentioned received critical messages from trans activists in response to a previous post in which he rejected the term “cis” and expressed a desire not to be portrayed as such. In return, Musk has shared together:

“Repeated and targeted harassment of any account will result in the offending account receiving, at the very least, a temporary suspension. The words “cis” or “cisgender” are considered insults on this platform.”

It’s important to note that the term “cisgender” is commonly used to describe individuals whose gender identity aligns with the gender they were assigned at birth. According to Merriam-Webster, it means “of, relating to, or being a person whose gender identity corresponds to the gender that person had or identified as at birth.”

“This new test was developed to strengthen our already successful efforts to reduce spam, platform manipulation and bot activity, while balancing platform accessibility with small fees. It is not a profit driver.”

The statement also points readers to a landing page that covers everything about the new payment experiment that costs one dollar.
