Others quipped Musk tweeted, “Stop the count” when the ‘Yes’ polls were at 100% and the ‘No’ polls were at zero.

Obviously, Musk doesn’t have a huge impact on social media platforms.

Musk, 51, has made several changes to Twitter’s staff over the past month and a half. He fired the company’s Chief Executive, Chief Financial Officer and Head of Legal Policy after its official takeover on October 28. Prior to Musk’s takeover, a ‘stack position review’ began to take place; According to an Insider report per The Blast on November 3, “The Vice President has compiled a list of employees in their department and made two lists: one employee they want to keep, and another list of employees they want to fire.

Musk plans to lay off half of Twitter’s workforce, cutting 3,700 employees from the company.

The layoff took place on November 4. The employees were notified of their termination via email, according to ABC News.

The email read “This is your last day at the company” and contained the subject line, “Your Role At Twitter.”

Weeks after Musk-mandated layoffs, three founding members of Twitter’s Trust and Safety Council decided to step down from the company.

Collier tweeted a screenshot of the letter, which read in part, “It is clear from the research evidence that, contrary to claims by Elon Musk, the safety and well-being of Twitter users is deteriorating. The question has been on our minds: Is Musk allowed to dictate digital security because he has freedom of speech? Our answer is a categorical ‘no’” (via Net Family News)

The letter also cited research from the Anti-Defamation League and the Center Against Digital Hate, which, according to the Huffington Post, “shows insults against black Americans and gay men have increased on the platform by 195% and 58%, respectively.”

The outlet also reported that research shows contempt for Black Americans has tripled since Musk’s takeover. Before October 28, the insult appeared on the platform an average of 1,282 times a day. Now Twitter sees about 3,876. Gay men received an average of 2,506 insults on the platform per day before Musk took over. Now Twitter sees an average of 3,964 insults per day.

“I can no longer find a reason to remain in tacit support of what Twitter has become,” Collier said.

Musk has allowed some banned users to return to the platform over the past few weeks. He allowed Kanye ‘Ye’ West to be reinstated on Twitter after the rapper previously posted anti-Semitic content in October, only to have it removed from the platform again.

Andrew Anglin also reappeared on the platform after his account was suspended in 2015, according to Tech Crunch. Anglin is the founder of a neo-Nazi website; The Huffington Post also reported Anglin “promised in a statement to abide by all Twitter rules in a statement.”
