After significant controversy, Elon Musk became the new “Chief Twit” last year.
The move has caused some celebrities, such as former “Star Wars” Mark Hamill to complain about a sharp drop in followers while other celebrities, such as comedian Jim Carrey and singer Sir Elton John, have threatened to leave the platform altogether.
For his part, not everyone is against Musk’s takeover of Twitter. Netflix co-founder Reed Hastings had nothing but praise for the Tesla CEO, whom he described as “the bravest, most creative person on the planet” last December.
While Musk may admit that some of his decisions have been controversial, he believes that Twitter is “going to a good place” in a last-minute interview with the BBC last night.

Last night, Elon Musk sat down for a last-minute interview with the BBC (via Deadline ), to discuss the state of his new platform. The 51-year-old entrepreneur said that it has been a “rollercoaster” with a “high level of pain” running the social media service.
Although he admits that there have been “mistakes made along the way,” he believes that social media is “going to a good place” despite the number of people who are leaving Twitter for other social media apps, such as Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.
“It would help Twitter, I think, if TikTok were banned, because people would spend more time on Twitter and less on TikTok,” Musk admitted. “But while that would help Twitter, I’m generally against banning things.”

On Tuesday, April 11, Musk tweeted “Deadline to remove legacy Blue checks is 4/20.” In an interview with the BBC on Tuesday night, Musk confirmed that all legacy certified blue checks will be removed from all accounts by the end of next week.
He also spoke to celebrities and companies, such as the New York Times, who were notoriously vocal about refusing to pay a checkmark to make their accounts official. “It’s a small amount of money, so I don’t know what their problem is,” Musk said Tuesday night. “We will treat everyone equally.”

He also said that he would address the controversy surrounding the labeling of the BBC as “state-funded media” and would change the scale. “We are adjusting the label to ‘publicly funded’ – we will try to be accurate,” Musk told the BBC, adding that he had “total respect” for the organization.
Overall, the checkmark drama has brought a lot of unwanted attention to the social media network. Even Musk had to admit that he played a role in stirring up the drama, admitting that he “shouldn’t have been tweeting after 3am.”

However, he went on to say that his time on Twitter “hasn’t been boring,” calling it “a bit of a rollercoaster.” He also said that “It’s not some kind of party” and that the “pain level” of his “rollercoaster” is “Really high.”
Musk said that taking over Twitter has been “really a stressful situation over the past couple of months,” adding, “It’s been a bit of a pain.”
Musk Claims Twitter Quit ‘No Fun At All’

It must have been a “painful” experience for those who had worked for Twitter, as many found themselves out of a job after Elon Musk’s takeover. On Tuesday night, Musk said that he was reducing the number of Twitter employees from “just under 8,000” to around 1,500 people. However, he said the layoff was “painful” and “not fun at all.”
He has also faced backlash for the way he responded to employees – current and former – on social media. “Did I shoot myself in the foot by tweeting a few times? Yeah… I guess I shouldn’t be tweeting after 3am,” Musk admitted.

On a side note, he also confirmed that his Shiba Inu dog Floki is the Chief Executive of Twitter after sharing some photos taken of the dog in mid-February.

Musk also claimed that his main goal is to make Twitter the “most accurate” platform it can be.” The SpaceX CEO was also asked whether Twitter was properly moderating “hateful content” after it was accused of removing established content guidelines.
Musk asked, “Who says what’s right and wrong?” and claims that claims that the site is not as secure as it used to be are “false.”
