Elvis Presley’s Grandaughter, Riley Keough, Hit With Massive Tax Lien

Riley Keough is in Uncle Sam’s bad book, as he has been accused of failing to pay thousands in state taxes.

According to legal documents obtained by The Blast, the California State Franchise Tax Board has filed a lien against Elvis Presley’s grandson and his husband, Ben Smith-Petersen for tax owed for 2021.

In the filing, the lien reports Keough and Petersen failed to pay a portion of their 2021 tax bill of $68,116.50. A lien has been placed against the couple’s former Woodland Hills home and the state Board of Taxation warns that further interest and fees will continue to accrue until they are paid.

The granddaughter of Elvis Presley has had a booming acting career since 2010, with her biggest role coming this year in the Prime Video “Daisy Jones & the Six.” Keough played the lead role of Daisy Jones and her outstanding performance earned her an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie.

Aside from her burgeoning career, the daughter of the late Lisa Marie Presley acquired quite a fortune earlier this year when she was awarded the title of sole trustee of the Graceland estate following her mother’s passing.

But, with big money comes big taxes!

As we reported, after a controversial legal dispute with her grandmother Priscilla Presley, the two sides agreed with Keough being the sole trustee of her mother’s estate and a sub-trustee for her siblings, twins Harper and 14-year-old Finley Lockwood.

As part of the settlement, the “Logan Lucky” star became the owner of Graceland – the 13.8-acre Memphis, Tennessee estate formerly owned by Elvis – and Priscilla, after her death, will be buried in the property’s Meditation Garden. In addition, the famous parents will receive a lump sum payment from the Trust, the exact amount of which is still undisclosed.

Priscilla also took on the role of trustee for a sub-trust set up for her son, Navarone Garibaldi, Lisa Marie’s half-brother. This sub-trust will entitle Garibaldi to 1/9 of the entire Trust.

The agreement also revealed the existence of a life insurance policy at the time of Lisa Marie’s death, the premiums of which would most likely have been paid to Keough and her siblings. It may amount to quite a bit of money.

Riley Keough & Grandma Priscilla Presley Settle Feud With Public Appearance

About four months after finishing the drama Estate, Keough and his grandmother showed the world that there was no bad blood between them. They made their first public appearance during an October visit to Nobu, Malibu, joined by Keough’s younger sisters, Finley and Harper.

As seen in the photo, the four enjoyed Sushi at the celebrity restaurant, with the parents reportedly footing the bill. Priscilla was all dressed up for the outing in an all black ensemble consisting of a black bomber jacket over a polka dot top and matching black trousers. Her granddaughter opted for a similar look consisting of a long black cape coat and open-toed sandals.

Recall that the “Daisy Jones and the Six” actor previously opened up about his relationship with Priscilla despite their legal battle. In an interview with Vanity Fair, Keough shut down rumors of a rift, admitting that “there’s been a lot of chaos in every aspect of our lives” due to Lisa Marie’s death.

So I think there needs to be clarity.”

Regarding his relationship with his famous grandmother, Keough said, “Things with Grandma are going to be happy. They are never unhappy. There was some upheaval, but now everything will be as it was. She was a beautiful woman, and she was a big part of creating my grandfather’s legacy and Graceland.”

Priscilla shared similar sentiments about her granddaughter in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, saying, “Riley is now the executor, which should be right, obviously, being her daughter. Riley and I have a good relationship. We’re never on the same page. It’s all publicity. “
