Ross claims that Roberts misgendered her in the presence of another cast member, John Carroll Lynch, who advised the “women” (Ross and Roberts) to mix between takes. The “Pose” actress revealed that Roberts responded with, “Don’t mean ‘woman'” before walking away.
However, Ross shared that he chose not to report this behavior, fearing retaliation, citing previous incidents where someone who spoke up was punished.

Roberts has since apologized for her remarks, reportedly calling Ross to apologize. Ross confirmed this in a tweet he shared, thanking Roberts for recognizing his behavior was wrong.

Ross also revealed that Ryan Murphy, the show’s creator, cut off communication with him after he proposed the idea of an all-Black season. The 42-year-old shared his frustration on social media, posting a screenshot of an email from Murphy sent in July 2020.
The email read, “Remember your idea of a Horror a season starring a black woman? Well, I’m doing it. I’m not sure of the story, but we’re going to start a writer’s room in the fall. With you, who are the four women I should get? I think you, Keke Palmer, Gabby [Sidibe] … not sure about the fourth one?”
Ross addressed the issue further in a TikTok video and shared another screenshot of an email from February 2022, which he claims was overlooked. She expressed her disappointment, mentioning that she had not received a response from Murphy despite “sending flowers.”

“I sent one last email in Feb 2022 (it took about a year to shoot season 10 due to COVID) while still in first place contractually with the show,” he shared.
The email read, “Good morning, cleaning and organizing and thinking about the focus of season 11 and then just thought maybe just asking you when that sums up if I can be on the producer side too. I can add a lot to the overall storyline if we still want to do a Black lead.”
He stated that during this period of not hearing back from Murphy, Marvel contacted him twice.

The “Queering the Script” star stressed that it wasn’t just the change of heart that bothered him but the months spent trying to clarify his contract status.
“I’ve been calling business affairs for MONTHS to get clarity if they’re taking my contract option or if I’m ok to tell Marvel that I’m up for whatever they call me,” he explained.
He mentioned his long audition for Marvel, adding, “I auditioned for THREE YEARS for Marvel. I’m held in first place all the time.”

Ross also hinted at complaints about racism on set being dismissed as “free speech.” He expressed his willingness to address these issues further, emphasizing his determination by referencing a scene from the movie, “Pretty Woman,” starring Julia Roberts, the aunt of his co-star, Emma Roberts, whom he accused of transphobia.
