Artist Leon Ivey Jr, better known as rapper Coolio, died suddenly on Wednesday night. He is 59 years old.
Although it was too early for an official cause of death to be determined, paramedics who arrived at the scene and found him unconscious tried to revive him for 45 minutes before they finally pronounced him dead at the scene.

Many fans were shocked to hear that the “Gangsta’s Paradise” rapper had died suddenly on Wednesday, September 28, 2022. The rapper had reportedly been visiting a friend who found him unresponsive on the bathroom floor of his Los Angeles home.
Coolio’s manager, Jarez Posey, confirmed that Coolio had visited his friend the day he died. The friend called paramedics around 4pm local time immediately after finding Coolio unresponsive on the bathroom floor.
EMTs reportedly found no signs of life when they arrived, but began performing CPR anyway. A source told TMZ that paramedics continued to perform CPR on the rapper “for 3/4 of an hour before concluding it was futile.”

At this time, it is suspected that he died of a heart attack, but it is too early for an official cause of death to be determined. Law enforcement officers reportedly did not find any drugs or drug paraphernalia in the bathroom prior to his death.
Coolio became a household name in 1995 after the release of “Gangsta’s Paradise,” which was featured in the movie “Danger Minds.” The following year, the hit single won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Solo Performance. Coolio continued to perform until his death. Just a few days ago, he posted a video of his recent performance in Texas on Instagram.
